KWSG to foster conducive environment for MSMEs

The Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to fostering a conducive environment for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to thrive, in alignment with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s strategic vision for inclusive economic growth.

This commitment was underscored by the Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, during the ‘Ilorin Naija Brand Chick Trade Fair’ held at the Government House Banquet Hall in Ilorin. The two-day event, supported by the state government and sponsored by Wema Bank, was aimed at bolstering local entrepreneurship and stimulating economic activities within the State.
Dr. Nuru emphasised that the trade fair served as a platform to connect entrepreneurs with potential customers, thereby enhancing market access, a critical factor for business expansion and sustainability.
She highlighted the role of the Kwara State Ease of Doing Business Council in implementing reforms that eliminate barriers to business operations, such as streamlining land administration processes and improving access to finance.
It would be recalled that under Governor AbdulRazaq’s leadership, the State has witnessed significant infrastructural developments, including the establishment of innovation hubs and improvements in transportation networks, which collectively create a more favourable business climate. These initiatives have not only attracted investments but have also empowered local businesses to scale their operations.
The Commissioner called on all stakeholders to support the administration’s efforts in building a prosperous Kwara by actively participating in economic activities and leveraging opportunities provided by the government to showcase the State’s potential to the global market.
Participants at the trade fair expressed appreciation for the government’s support. Exhibitor Nifemi Olaonipekun lauded the initiative, stating that it provided a valuable opportunity to increase sales and expand client networks. Shopper Hajia Sherifat Umar commended the availability of affordable and quality local products, reflecting the fair’s success in promoting indigenous businesses.
The Kwara State Government, the Commissioner added, remains steadfast in its mission to support MSMEs, recognising their pivotal role in driving economic development and job creation across the State.
