
As Nigeria marks another Democracy Day today, June 12, Kogi State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has celebrated 2025 June 12 Democracy Day Youth Interactive Session with the Theme; “26 Years of Democracy; Renewing Our Commitment To National Development”.
The colourful event which place at Glass House, Government House, Lokoja on Thursday , features several groups of youths, involving National Association of Students Union, NANS, National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, National Association of Kogi State Students, NAKOSS.
While addressing the Youth, The Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Monday AridaOjo Anyebe, said they are gathered to commemorate 26 years of uninterrupted democratic governance in Nigeria, saying Kogi state government is celebrating with renewed hope, renewed purpose, and renewed commitment to building a stronger, inclusive and more prosperous nation where the youth are not just beneficiaries, but drivers of development.
Hon. Anyebe noted that this year’s theme , “26 Years of Democracy: Renewing Our Commitment to National Development,” aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“This agenda places a premium on youth empowerment, innovation, job creation, and inclusive governance ensuring that Nigerian youths are not left behind in national progress. From tech innovation to agriculture, digital economy to entrepreneurship, President Tinubu is intentionally creating pathways for the youth to thrive, contribute and lead”,
The Honourable Commissioner further said His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo is presently replicating and localizing this vision through his Consolidation and Continuity Agenda, with youth engagement and empowerment at its core.
“Since assuming office, Governor Ododo has consistently demonstrated commitment to uplifting young people through skills acquisition programs, youth inclusion in governance, sports development, and enterprise support initiatives. This interactive session is yet another reflection of that vision, a leadership style that listens, learns, and leads with the people”,
Hon. Anyebe commended the teeming youths who gathered from across the state, saying it is youth moment, ‘Your voices matter. Your ideas are valid. Your future is being shaped not in isolation but through active engagement’,he stressed.
He therefore appreciate the teeming youth for speaking with confidence, and playing their part in securing and developing our dear Kogi state, urging them to continue to grow stronger, and rise as builders of a greater Kogi State and a better Nigeria”.
Among the dignitaries in attendance are; Hon. Suleman AbdulRazak, majority leader, Kogi state House of Assembly, Evangelist Kingsley Femi Fanwo, Commissioner for Information and communication, Justice Muiz Abdullah, SAN, Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Kogi State and host of others.
