KWSG reiterates commitment to safety, infrastructural development

Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening security and improving infrastructure across the state-owned tertiary institutions.
This assurance was given by the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, during a working visit to two key institutions in the Kwara South Senatorial District: the Kwara State College of Education, Oro, and the Osi Campus of the Kwara State University (KWASU).
The visit focused on the physical inspection of facilities and infrastructure, identification of urgent needs, and an on-the-spot assessment of the security situation in and around the host communities.
Addressing the staff and students during the visit, Hajia Modibbo Kawu reiterated the commitment of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration to the safety and welfare of the students and staff across all tertiary institutions in the State.
Hajia Modibbo Kawu assured the institutions that the state government would address all identified areas requiring urgent interventions. “The government will not relent in its efforts to transform our tertiary education sector into one that is not only competitive but also secure and conducive to learning,” she stated.
The Commissioner inspected key facilities, and promised to follow up on the issues raised.
At the Kwara State College of Education, Oro, the Provost, Professor Aremu Mukaila Ayanda, expressed appreciation to the state government for its unwavering interventions, including prompt payment of salaries, financial support for accreditation, and clearance of salary arrears.
He, however, appealed for urgent rehabilitation of the access road to the college, government takeover of the college’s model school, and the construction of a perimeter fence to enhance security.
The Commissioner also paid a visit to the Olosi of Osi, His Royal Highness, Oba Saliu Abdulkareem Adasofegbe, to appreciate the monarch for his steadfast support to the government.
“Our traditional institutions remain vital partners in promoting stability and academic excellence. We deeply appreciate your support,” she told the monarch.
Responding, the monarch commended Governor AbdulRazaq for the administration’s developmental strides in the community, particularly the renovation of the Osi/Obbo Ayegunle Road, which he said has boosted economic activities and improved accessibility.
