Okene MSME Training Set to Unlock Financial Opportunities for Kogi Central Entrepreneurs

Following the successful conclusion of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) empowerment training in Kabba, Kogi West Senatorial District, attention now shifts to Okene, as the next phase of the capacity-building initiative moves to Kogi Central. The program is spearheaded by Federal Government Business Development Consultant, Chief Jeremiah Oladokun.
The MSME training is part of a state-wide campaign aimed at boosting participation in the Federal Government’s BOI-backed loan scheme. The initiative, facilitated through the Bank of Industry (BOI), is designed to equip entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills necessary to access and properly utilize low-interest funding to build sustainable and profitable ventures.
Driving Economic Empowerment Through Knowledge
Chief Oladokun, an accredited Business Development Service Provider with the BOI, stated that the Okene training will build on the strong momentum recorded in Kabba, where a significant number of business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs received hands-on guidance. Participants at the previous session learned about developing an entrepreneurial mindset, starting and expanding businesses, financial literacy, and writing fundable business proposals. They were also introduced to crowdfunding strategies and ways to mobilize social capital for growth.
He noted that the BOI loan offers financial support between ₦1 million and ₦5 million at a competitive interest rate of 9%, with a repayment plan spread over 36 months. According to him, this aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s broader economic vision to transform MSMEs from subsistence to sustainability.
“This is not just another sensitization program. It’s a practical empowerment campaign. We walk entrepreneurs through every step—from application to business execution—so they are not only funded but also equipped to succeed,” Oladokun emphasized.
Who the Training Targets
The upcoming Okene session is open to a wide range of participants. These include owners of existing small and medium-sized businesses, individuals intending to launch new ventures, youth and women interested in entrepreneurship, and organized cooperatives with viable ideas. Salary earners planning a transition into business are also encouraged to attend.
“Earning a salary is good, but building a business alongside it is how you secure long-term financial independence,” Oladokun said. “This training will show you how to make that transition wisely.”

He praised President Tinubu’s administration for launching what he described as one of the most impactful economic empowerment efforts targeted at MSMEs in recent years.
“This loan is not just about capital—it’s about building resilient businesses. We are committed to ensuring that no serious entrepreneur in Kogi State is left out of this opportunity,” he concluded.
