The 14th of August 2025 will forever remain etched in our memories, not only as a historic day for the Federal Fire Service but also as a defining moment for Okunland and indeed Nigeria at large. On this remarkable day, Samuel Olumode, a man of destiny, by divine providence assumed office as the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service.
The atmosphere was charged with joy, jubilation, celebration and thanksgiving. It was a day when scripture came alive: “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice.” Truly, the celebrations were not ordinary, they were electrifying, carnival-like, and all-embracing. From the high and mighty to the middle class, the lowly, and the classless, all converged to honour the man of the moment—a friend to all, a leader for all.
In a long while, Okunland has not witnessed such widespread rejoicing over the elevation of one of its own. This was not merely about an office bestowed, but about the man himself, his character, his values, and his sterling qualities. Samuel Olumode is a man of impeccable integrity, humility personified, and an administrator per excellence. He is an astute manager of men, money, and materials. A thorough professional who knows his craft and carries it with dignity.
He stands today as the pride of Okunland: a quintessential leader, an icon, a colossus, and a beacon of probity and accountability. Diligent in his calling, he is the kind of man who, in the words of scripture, can stand before kings. He is celebrated not only for what he has attained but for who he is—a man deeply loved and respected across all divides.
We return all glory to God Almighty for this appointment. It is an answered prayer for Okunland and for Nigeria at large. This appointment epitomizes the New Hope Agenda of President Ahmed Tinubu for placing the right peg in the right hole. For this singular honour, the entire Okun nation expresses profound gratitude to Mr. President. We assure him that this appointment is not misplaced, for in Samuel Olumode we have a man equal to the task, one who will not only perform but excel in service to the nation.
We also celebrate his loving and dutiful wife, whose unwavering support and prayers have been invaluable. Indeed, behind every great man stands a virtuous woman, and her role in this journey cannot be overlooked.
As he takes on this enormous responsibility, we call on his colleagues and the entire Federal Fire Service to give him their maximum support. With divine wisdom, knowledge, and strength, he will steer the Service to new heights of excellence.
