The story of the 46th birthday anniversary of the Kogi State Commissioner For Solid Minerals and Natural Resources Engr Bashiru Gegu will continue to remain indelible on the minds of the people of Kogi LGA for a very long time to come.
This is as the Commissioner using the occasion, reiterated his commitment to continue to spend his life on earth touching lives of vulnerable persons in the society in several positive ways.
For many who have crossed the paths of Engr. Bashiru Gegu, his life embodies the spirit of giving, kindness, and compassion, making him, truly a special individual.
Recalled that this is not the first time that Engr. Bashiru will be using his birthday anniversary as an opportunity to give back, thus, demonstrating gratitude to Almighty God for his blessings and a desire to share with others.
Speaking to a mammoth crowd of supporters from across Kogi State who converged on Gegu Beki on 17th September, 2025 to rejoice with him, Engr. Bashiru gave out car gifts to several persons including the NURTW, Gegu Beki branch.
Still basking in the euphoria of the birthday anniversary, Engr. Bashiru used the occasion to empower Youths and Women alike.
The Solid Minerals Commissioner gave out scholarships to 300 students from Kogi LGA. Each of the Zone, comprising Zone A,B,C of the Local Government got 100 slots each.
Similarly, the Commissioner paid the hospital bills of 486 Kogites spread across hospitals in the State, said his life is not worth living if people in need of help are not attended too, described the gesture as made possible by the benevolence of former Gov Yahaya Bello and the incumbent, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo.
Furthermore, Engr. Bashiru presented several cheques and gifts to some enlisted beneficiaries, ranging from N500,000 and in some cases N1m to some women and widows from across the Local Government Area. This he said is to enable them start or support their small and medium to businesses.
The Commissioner appeal for patience from the people, urging them to remain calm as his gesture to impact lives remains a work in progress, pointing out that the recent support occasion by his birthday anniversary is not going to be the end of support to the people.
The Commissioner disclosed that the enable environment that has made him to impact humanity, was made possible by the administration of Gov Ododo, pointing out that the State has never in history had it this good in terms of having a people centered leader, in the person of Gov. Ododo.
He urged the people to sustain their support for the administration of Gov Ododo and the All Progressives Congress, insisting that come 2027, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Gov. Ododo will by their good works and accomplishments emerge victorious at the polls.
The people of Gegu Beki, who could not hide their joy, maintained that Engr. Bashiru has demonstrated a genuine commitment to helping others, showcasing his compassionate and generous nature.
The various speakers, ranging from the Lawmaker Representing Ajaokuta State Constituency amongst several others, said by giving away valuable resources like cars, scholarships, and medical assistance, a very rare gesture, praised Engr. Bashiru for always putting the needs of others before his own, exemplifying selflessness.
They also added that his actions as Commissioner over the years have tangible and positive impact on the lives of others, making a real difference in the community and the whole Kogi LGA.
While noting that Engr Bashiru’s leadership has remained consistent with generosity, added that his kindness inspires others to follow suit, creating a ripple effect of good deeds in the State.
They commended him for being empathetic, always showing understanding and compassion for those in need, praised him for always taking concrete steps to alleviate their struggles.
