Kogi Health Insurance: Governor Ododo Enrolls 76, 243 People,
Launches More Access to Care Program for Local Government Workers, Pensioners, and Students

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has launched the Access to Care program, aimed at providing health insurance coverage to local government workers, pensioners, and students in the state. The program guarantees access to quality healthcare services for these groups.
In his speech, Governor Ododo emphasized his administration’s commitment to building on past achievements in the health sector, focusing on human capital development, and revitalizing Primary Health Care Centers throughout the state.
He thanked the Federal Government for the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund Programme, which has significantly impacted vulnerable people in the state.
In his words, “We are not just launching programmes, we are laying stronger foundations for the well-being of our people,” Governor Ododo said. “Health is one of the top priorities of this administration, and we are determined to ensure that no Kogite is left behind.” He added.
The Access to Care program provides health insurance coverage to over 76,000 beneficiaries under the Local Government Formal Sector Plan, the Pensioners Contributory Health Insurance Plan, and the Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Programme.
Comr. Clement Ohida, State Chairman of Nigeria Union of Pensioners, expressed profound gratitude and appreciation for the approval given for the enrollment of senior citizens into the health insurance scheme. He noted
Dr. Muazu Musa Omeiza, Executive Director of Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, expressed gratitude and pleasure at the flag-off and distribution of basic medical equipment, delivery kits, and Solar Direct Drive refrigerators in Kogi State. He appreciated the Governor’s leadership and commitment to healthcare development in the state.
These initiatives according to him demonstrate Governor Ododo’s commitment to improving the lives of Kogites and providing quality healthcare services to residents.
Dr. Aledare Adekunle, Executive Secretary of the Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, expressed gratitude to the former Governor of the State Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello for establishing the agency and appreciates Governor Ododo’s commitment to healthcare development in the state.

Dr. Adekunle emphasized the agency’s commitment to achieving universal health coverage, citing the current performance in health coverage with over 167,000 enrollees already on the health insurance program.
Governor Ododo approved a ₦300,000 monthly allowance for medical doctors in government-owned hospitals to curb brain drain and improve healthcare services two operational Toyota Hilux vehicles were commissioned to support the Health Insurance Agency’s monitoring and supervision efforts.
