The Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba, joined students of St. Mary’s Primary and Secondary School, Lokoja, to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child 2025, in collaboration with the African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA) Nigeria, Kogi State Branch, led by its State Coordinator, Barr. Joy Oluwaseun Akinola.
The event, themed “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead,” also marked the AWLA Mentoring Series 1.0, with the Deputy Speaker serving as the first mentor invited for the series.
The celebration featured interactive sessions with the students, focusing on education as a vital tool for personal growth and societal advancement. The Deputy Speaker commended AWLA Kogi Branch for its dedication to empowering young girls and expressed gratitude to the State Coordinator, Barr. Joy Oluwaseun Akinola, for the privilege of being part of this impactful initiative.
Rt. Hon. Egwaba reiterated her commitment to supporting policies and programmes that nurture the potential of girls and promote their active participation in leadership and nation-building.
