MOTION COMMENDING MAJOR GENERAL EREMA AKEREJOLA FOR FACILITATING THE CONSTRUCTION AND ASPHALTING OF A 1.6KM ACCESS ROAD LINKING THE COMMUNITY COMPREHENSIVE HIGH SCHOOL, OGORI, TO THE TOWNSHIP ROAD NETWORK
The Rt. Hon. Speaker, my distinguished Honourable Colleagues, I rise this morning to move a motion of commendation that is both timely and richly deserved.
It is often said that true leadership is not in titles held, but in lives touched. Today, I bring to the attention of this Honourable House the exemplary act of Major General Erema Akerejola, Chief of Logistics at the Nigerian Army Headquarters and a proud son of Ogori.
House to note that in 2024, through his strategic influence and quiet patriotism, the Nigerian Army undertook and completed the construction and asphalting of a 1.6 kilometre access road linking the Community Comprehensive High School, Ogori, to the township road network. This intervention has significantly improved access to education, reduced hardship for schoolchildren and residents, and boosted local connectivity in ways that words alone cannot quantify.
House to further note that this noble intervention is not just the construction and asphalting of a 1.6 kilometre access road ~ it is a bridge to opportunity, safety and dignity for the people of Ogori. Major General Akerejola did not wait for applause or headlines. He simply acted as a servant-leader, and as a true gentleman in uniform.
House to acknowledge the exemplary patriotism, humility and commitment to community development as consistently demonstrated by Major General Erema Akerejola, a distinguished indigene of Ogori, whose quiet leadership continues to yield tangible benefits for his people and the nation at large, particularly at a time when public trust must be rebuilt through visible service; his actions are a shining example of what is possible when power is wielded with conscience.
I, therefore, urge this Honourable House to adopt this motion and accordingly resolve as follows:
1. That this Honourable House formally commends Major General Erema Akerejola for his outstanding and selfless contribution to community development and urges other well-placed Nigerians to emulate his exemplary conduct in public service.
2. That the Clerk of the House be directed to convey a certified copy of this resolution to Major General Erema Akerejola, and to transmit a copy of the same resolution to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Olufemi Oluyede, for official acknowledgment and commendation.
Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Honourable Members, so move.
Hon. Bode Ogunmola
