DistinguishedLadies and Gentlemen of the Press, Esteemed Colleagues in the National APC Youth Coalition (NAYC), Patriotic Nigerians, and My Brothers and Sisters from Kogi West,

Good day to you all, and a profound welcome to this pivotal National Press Conference. As we gather under the resounding theme, “From Mandate to Impact:Assembly Legislative Excellence of Kogi West Senator” Distinguished Senator Sunday Karimi-Centers of Achievements, Bills, Motions, and Developmental Influence in Kogi West, I stand before you not just as Chief Aiyelabowo Adebanji Austin, Director GeneraI of the National APC Youth Coalition, but also as a proud son of Kogi West Senatorial District-a constituent whose life and community have been profoundly transformed by the servant-leadership of the man we honor today.
In the spirit of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), which has always championed the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, this conference is more than a gathering; it is a clarion call. It is a testament to how one man’s mandate-entrusted by the people-blossoms into tangible impact that uplifts nations, empowers the voiceless, and fortifies our democracy. Today,we celebrate Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, the platinum standard of senatorial representation, whose journey from mandate to mastery exemplifies the very essence of progressive governance.

As the Director General of NAYC, speaking first as a national leader, I must commend Senator Karimi’s unwavering loyalty to President Tinubu and the APC’s vision. In an era where political winds shift like desert sands, he has stood as a bulwark, rallying grassroots and elite support across Kogi State and beyond. Just last month, as reported by Kogi Reports, the NAYC passed a resounding vote of confidence on him for his patriotic defense of the President’s policies against misinformation and opposition propaganda. He has mobilized over 3,000 students through Tinubu Support Group Bursary Awards-1,610 in Kogi East and Central, and 1,390 in our own Kogi West-educating our youth on economic recovery, youth empowerment, and national security. These are not mere gestures; they are strategic investments in the future, aligning perfectly with Mr. President’s Youth and Women Inclusion Policies. Senator Karimi’s voice in the Senate has echoed this commitment, co-sponsoring bills that amplify federal initiatives, ensuring that the
Renewed Hope Agenda doesn’t just reach Kogi – it roots there, flourishing for generations.

But allow me, now, to speak as a Kogi West constituent-one whose community has felt the pulse of his impact in ways that statistics alone cannot capture. Picture this: In the sun-baked farmlands of Yagba, Kabba-Bunu, or the bustling markets of Lokoja, families once whispered prayers for relief from insecurity and economic hardship. Today, they testify to a senator who doesn’t just promise-he delivers. From 2023 to date, Senator Karimi has invested over N2 billion in developmental projects across our seven local government areas, turning whispers into roars of gratitude. This is the data-driven excellence we crave: verifiable, transformative, and unapologetically people-centered.

Let us turn to his legislative prowess, the beating heart of this theme. As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Services in the 10th Assembly-a chamber that has introduced a record 844 bills in its first two years under Senate President Godswill Akpabio – Senator Karimi has been a legislative dynamo. He sponsored the Dishonoured Cheques (Offences) Bill, 2023 (SB 10), a robust measure to safeguard financial integrity and curb economic sabotage-a bill that passed second reading and stands as a beacon for ethical commerce. He co-sponsored the National Youth Service Corps Trust Fund Bill, injecting vitality into our post-NYSC graduates by securing funding for skill acquisition and entrepreneurship. And in motions? Over 40 impactful ones moved in his tenure, including the urgent Motion on Tackling Food Insecurity and Market Exploitation-a clarion cry that pressured the executive to stabilize prices and avert hunger for millions.

These aren’t abstract exercises; they are lifelines. In a Senate that passed over 90bills with 52 signed into law by October 2025, Senator Karimi’s contributions rank him among the top performers, driving policies that have boosted trade, investment, and youth inclusion by 25% in key sectors, per National Assembly records.

Yet, true excellence shines brightest in empowerment – the quiet revolution Senator Karimi has ignited among our youth and women. As a national leader,I see in him a model for the APC’s youth agenda: In Kogi West alone, he has disbursed over N100 million in bursaries to 1,390 students, eradicating barriers to tertiary education and fostering a generation of innovators.
Nationally, his initiatives have touched over 3,000 lives, with a 40% increase in enrollment rates in beneficiary LGAs, as verified by independent audits. For our women-the unsung architects of our homes and economy-he launched a second-phase empowerment program, channeling N100 million to 50 cooperative groups, with each receiving N2 million in startup capital and training for 550 participants. In Lokoja, 125 more women across seven cooperatives received N18 million for businesses, yielding a 35% rise in household incomes within six months.
And employment? He has secured over 50 graduate jobs through federal appointments and private sector linkages, reducing youth unemployment in Kogi West by 15% since 2023 – a statistic that doesn’t just build resumes; it rebuilds destinies.

On security-that perennial shadow over our progress-Senator Karimi has been a fearless sentinel. In response to rising banditry and cross-border threats, he personally funded and constructed the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Egbe, at the Kogi-Kwara-Niger tripoint, deploying galant personnel and reducing kidnapping incidents by 30% in the past year. He briefed the Inspector-General of Police on our unique challenges, leading to enhanced patrols that have restored night markets and safe travels. This is not rhetoric; it’s resolve – a senator who invests N500million in security infrastructure because he knows peace is the soil from which prosperity grows.

My dear Senator Karimi, as your constituent and a fellow APC warrior, I cast this vote of confidence not lightly, but with the weight of our shared history. You are the platinum standard – approachable, underpriced in personality yet overdelivering in impact. Your centers of achievements-from the 50+ bills and 40+motions of your legislative arsenal to the N1.5 billion in philanthropy- have galvanized Kogi West into a beacon of progress. We see you not as a politician, but as a bridge-builder: Rallying unforced support for President Tinubu, declaring him Kogi’s “only agenda” for 2027, and proving that true leadership needs no coercion -only conviction.

And so, with the deepest appreciation, I beckon you: Step into the ring one more time. The next dispensation awaits your continuity-an automatic two-term ticket to amplify these gains. Greater works beckon: More bills for digital youth hubs, motions for climate-resilient farming in our riverine belts, and empowerments that
propel 10,000 more women into economic sovereignty. Kogi West-nay,Nigeria-needs your steady hand to steer us through 2027 and beyond.

To the press here today: Carry this narrative far and wide. Let it galvanize followership, not through hype, but through the irrefutable truth of data and deeds. To our youth and women: Rise with Senator Karimi; your empowerment is his mandate. To the APC family: Emulate this excellence; it is our path to renewed hope.

Distinguished Senator Sunday Karimi, from mandate to impact-you have etched your legacy in gold. Continue the great works; history, and we your people, will forever applaud.
Thank you, God bless you, God bless Kogi West, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Chief Aiyelabowo Adebanji Austin
Director General of the National APC Youth Coalition
