The GYB Model Science Secondary School (GYBMSSS) Andankolo-Lokoja, is committed to providing quality education and character building for its students.
The school’s Principal, Chief Ajofe Yakubu Godwins, believes that parental support is essential to achieving this goal and has urged parents to partner with the school to raise the next generation of leaders.
Speaking at the Orientation Programme for new students on Tuesday at the school, Godwins advised parents to take an active role in monitoring their children’s activities to ensure a better future for them.
The Principal stressed the need for parents to monitor their children’s activities both in and out of school.
Godwins emphasised that parents have a collective responsibility with the school to nurture their children into better individuals
The principal stressed the need to ensure that children are punctual, regular, and of good moral character.
He encouraged parents and communities to appreciate teachers and give them their rightful place in society so as to have a nation free of vices.
Godwins stressed that the school’s target is not just to produce certificate holders but to prepare students to be useful to themselves and society.
He appealed to parents to release their children to attend school regularly and punctually, without overburdening them, which could negatively impact their progress.
He further urged parents to provide necessary textbooks and support the school’s efforts in generating quality leaders.
The principal expressed gratitude to the State Government, led by Gov. Ahmed Ododo, for providing magnificent infrastructures, adequate security, and qualified teachers to ensure a conducive learning environment.
Godwins urged parents to live exemplary lives that their children can emulate and to provide necessary support to aid their academic success.
The orientation programme featured several sessions, including a presentation on “Proper Channels of Communication” by the Vice Principal (VP) Administration, Mrs Ladi Ameji.
She emphasised the importance of following the normal channel through the Form Teacher, subject teacher, and Guardian and Counseling Unit.
The VP Academic 1, Mr Benson Ugwoke, who spoke on “Upholding Integrity and Good Conduct, urged students to uphold good conduct to earn self-respect, trustworthiness, and become role models in society.
On her part, Mrs Toyin Omotosho outlined the school’s rules and regulations, including punctuality, mutual respect, obedience, and avoidance of unlawful assembly, theft, and loitering.
The parents commended the school management and staff for their exceptional efforts in nurturing well-rounded students who excel in both character and academics, urging them to maintain the standard.
The Chairman, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), Pastor Zadrach Igiku, appealed to parents to give their full support to the school in raising godly children who will make the nation proud.
