The management of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, under the leadership of Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, has uncovered a certificate forgery scandal involving some applicants who allegedly submitted fake National Diploma (ND) results during the ongoing Higher National Diploma (HND) admission screening.
The Polytechnic’s internal investigation team discovered forged academic documents during routine verification. Following the findings, the management suspended a Deputy Registrar and several other staff members allegedly linked to the document forgery scheme.
The Rector, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, confirmed that over 30 fake statements of result and certificates bearing forged signatures and stamps were recovered during the exercise. The case has since been handed over to the police and other security agencies for further investigation and prosecution.
Addressing the situation, Prof. Usman reassured the public, stakeholders, and the Polytechnic community that the institution’s quality assurance measures and security mechanisms remain fully active and uncompromised.
We shall not relent in our effort to expose and eliminate all forms of misconduct capable of denting the hard-earned reputation of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja,” the Rector said.
He added that all individuals involved in the forgery scandal will be handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution, to serve as a deterrent to others.
The management reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for academic fraud, impersonation, and admission malpractice, emphasizing that integrity remains the cornerstone of Kogi Poly’s academic excellence.
