IJUMU DAY: IJUMU CHAIRMAN CALLS FOR STRONGER SECURITY COOPERATION, COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION, RELIGIOUS HARMONY, AND CONTINUED SUPPORT FOR GOVERNOR ODODO’S ADMINISTRATION

The Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Hon. Haruna Ibrahim, has called for stronger cooperation among traditional rulers, community groups, religious bodies and security agencies to maintain peace and stability across the council area. He made this call during the 2025 Ijumu Colloquium and Cultural Festival, noting that shared information and steady collaboration remain essential to addressing security concerns.

During his remarks, Hon. Ibrahim highlighted ongoing efforts to expand youth engagement through skill programmes, sports activities and regular community dialogue aimed at improving stability and reducing delinquency. He added that the council is working closely with the private sector to create a fair operating environment for traders, artisans, farmers and other small business owners.

The Chairman commended all the donors for supporting development initiatives and acknowledged the vital role of traditional rulers and stakeholders in keeping peace within their domains. He noted that their regular communication with the council and early interventions have helped maintain order across the local government area.

The Chairman reaffirmed Ijumu’s support for the administration of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, pointing out that the local government enjoys strong representation in the state cabinet through two commissioners, several special advisers, director generals, a managing director and many senior special assistants.

Hon. Ibrahim expressed deep appreciation to His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, who was ably represented at the event by the Director General of Kogi State Government House Administration, Alhaji Shuaibu Oricha. He stated that Ijumu values the support and recognition given to the local government under the present administration.

He also thanked the Chairman of the occasion, the Auditor General for Local Government, Hon. Yakubu Siyaka Adabenege, for his physical presence and generous donation toward the development of Ijumu Kingdom. The Chairman described this gesture as a clear encouragement to ongoing community projects and a motivation for further progress.

He also appreciated other visitors from far and wide who attended the festival, urging them keep believing in the spirit of oneness and positive community engagement for a productive grassroots development.

The Chairman restated his commitment to unity, steady development and responsible leadership across the local government area.
