Prince Mathew Kolawole, former Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly and APC House of Representatives Aspirant in the forthcoming 2027 election, has criticized and described the current representative of Kabba Bunu Ijumu Federal Constituency as a “misplaced priority”.
Speaking at his widow empowerment program which he initiated 15 years ago,, said the current lawmaker hasn’t met with the people’s yearning and aspirations, lamented that at a season when politicians with the heart of the people are at home with there people for Christmas, “he has instead traveled “abroad, enjoying himself and watching football matches” while his people suffer.
Kolawole, who says he enjoys an organic grassroots followership, cited his own efforts, like paying school fees, medical bills, and providing jobs for his people, saying it has made him the best fit to represent the constituency come 2027.
He vowed to win the APC ticket and defeat the current lawmaker, who he said, “got the mandate on a platter of gold”.
Kolawole praised President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s recent efforts against insecurity and Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo’s work in making Kogi State safe, expressed optimism that soon Nigeria would come out of the insecurity challenge.
The event empowered 500 widows with rice, beans, garri, clothing, and N10,000, Kolawole said if elected, he’ll focus more on providing palliatives, supporting vulnerable people, and addressing out-of-school children.
“If given opportunity to serve in the House of Representative, I will focus to provide palliative to the people through legislation. My focus beyond attracting infrastructure, will be to provide platforms and support to vulnerable people, who are less privileged’.
” My focus is to also focus on out of school children by making legislation, provide employment for our teeming unemployed”, Youths, said as member of the Assembly, he began a skill acquisition program 2 years ago, through partnership with NDE, expressed appreciation that the graduates of the scheme are now Masters today and can feed themselves and there families.
