I wish to formally and profoundly express my heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, and his amiable wife, Her Excellency, Hajiya Sefinat Usman Ododo, the Founder of the Ohunene Empowerment Initiative, for the gracious gift of a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado extended to me. This rare act of generosity is not only humbling but also a clear demonstration of their untiring commitment to uplifting and empowering Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) across Kogi State.
The Ohunene Empowerment Initiative has, within a short period, recorded remarkable milestones in disability inclusion and social welfare. Through this laudable intervention, over 250 persons with disabilities have been empowered with wheelchairs, 250 beneficiaries received white canes, another 250 were supported with elbow crutches, while 250 others received armpit crutches. In addition, 50 persons living with albinism were provided with sun protection creams. Notably, every beneficiary of these mobility aids also received a cash support of ₦50,000 to further enhance their independence and well-being.
Beyond mobility support, the initiative has provided direct financial empowerment to 250 persons with disabilities and 100 elderly women, each receiving ₦200,000. This mega empowerment programme has reached all the local government areas of Kogi State and extended its impact down to the ward level, ensuring inclusivity, equity, and grassroots participation.
This historic intervention stands as a remarkable milestone in the annals of Kogi State, vividly reflecting the compassionate leadership and inclusive vision of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo. It underscores a government that truly prioritizes social justice, dignity, and equal opportunities for all citizens, especially the vulnerable.
May Almighty Allah continue to bless His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, and Her Excellency, Hajiya Sefinat Usman Ododo, with wisdom, strength, and resounding success as they remain steadfast in service to humanity. May Allah protect and guide His Excellency, the Chief Servant of Kogi State, to continue making lasting and meaningful differences in the lives of Kogi State citizens.
May the Ohunene Empowerment Initiative continue to flourish, expand its reach, and positively transform the lives of vulnerable populations in Kogi State and Nigeria at large. Ameen.
