As elected representatives and political appointees from Kogi Central and the entire state, it is important to ensure that the voices and needs of all members of our community are heard and included in decision-making processes. This includes persons with disabilities (PWDs), who often face barriers and discrimination in accessing opportunities and services.
We urge you to prioritize the inclusion of PWDs in your aids, policy-making, and decision-making processes. This can be done by actively seeking out and consulting with PWDs in your constituency, appointing PWDs to advisory committees, and ensuring that policies and programs are designed to be accessible and inclusive.
We also call on the Executive Governor, Alh. Usman Ahmed Ododo, to continue and build on the foundation laid by his predecessor in promoting PWD inclusiveness. During the previous administration of Governor Yahaya Bello, there were almost appointments for persons with disabilities, and we hope to see this commitment to inclusiveness continue and grow under the current leadership.
Inclusive governance benefits everyone in our community and helps to create a more equitable and just society. We urge you to take action to ensure that PWDs are included, valued, and given the opportunity to contribute to the development of our state.
