EPA KANO BRANCH GOES TO POLL, ELECTS OFFICERS
Members of the Ebira People’s Association (EPA), Kano State Branch will today go out to elect her officers that will run the affairs of the Association for the next four years (2021- 2025).
About 235 bonafide registered members are expected to participate in today’s election of Ebira People’s Association in Kano State. Arewa Trust also learnt that the election will take place at EBIRA HOUSE, situated at Zaria road, Naibawa, Kano State. In an online statement by the Electoral Committee Chairman, Barrister Abdulraheem Sulaiman, it says accreditation of voters will commence at exactly 9.00am and election will start by 10.30am. He urged members of the Association to conduct themselves peacefully during the election. “Only members duly registered by the Caretaker Committee will be allowed to vote and be voted for”, the statement added.
It will be recalled that the EPA Kano Branch Association. had been embroiled with internal bickering that led to the dissolution of the last Executive members elected in April 2017.
The national body of the Association led by Dr. Adeiza Yakubu and his national executive came to Kano to dissolve the executive and constituted a caretaker committee led by a retired civil servant, Alhaji Ibrahim Abagi Salami.
On 8th October 2020, the caretaker Committee constituted five man electoral committee under the Chairman of Barrister Abdulraheem Sulaiman to conduct a free, fair and credible election for the Kano branch association.
About ten offices in today’s EPA Kano Branch election are being contested for. Seven offices namely: Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Publicity Secretary, Organising Secretary, Auditor and Women leader are unopposed. Two persons each are contesting for the offices of Treasurer, Finance Secretary and Youth leaders.
Campaigns are already ongoing by the various candidates.
