*HAPPY CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION*
The annual observance of Children’s Day on May 27 is a convention established by the United Nations in the year 1964. Additionally, the agreement is intertwined with an unreserved acceptance by all and sundry, that the welfare of every child is paramount and sacrosanct.
31 years now into the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child, the world and its increasingly changing order is reminded today, that Children are special, to be protected, allowed to grow, learn, play, develop, and flourish with dignity; as agreed in the Convention of 1989.
In Nigeria and particularly Kogi State, we understand that Children are the future of our society. Born of love, we believe that without them, our hope of building a productive and creative force for tomorrow will be fluffed. So under the foresighted leadership of *His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, Executive Governor of Kogi State*, the educational, financial, social and spiritual future of our Children is assured.
Because we all passed through the Childhood phase, it is simply honourable and very important that we continue to provide unique platforms for their moral instructions, proper home training, fundamental education and welfare. It is as well, very vital to ensure that those systems are sustainable for a greater part of the future.
Unfortunately today, we are greeted by a global novel virus – COVID-19, which has made it difficult for Govermment to engage our adorable Children in the usual celebrations accompanying the day. But our collective resolve in protecting every Child from the virus in Kogi State will never waver.
So on behalf of my lovely family, entire members of the 7th Assembly, management and staff of the Kogi State House of Assembly, I wish all our Children a HAPPY CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION.
May God continue to lead you all by the hand as you grow, Amen.
