……Says it is a victory for democracy, good governance.
The newly elected Executive Chairman of OGORI-MAGONGO LG has described his victory at the just concluded Chairmanship polls as a victory for democracy, good governance and the development of the people of OGORI-MAGONGO
In his acceptance speech and first reaction to overwhelming confirmation of his mandate by the electorate, Hon. Oparison declared : “I thank God almighty for the great day. Saturday, the 12th of December was a day of triumph and victory for progressive governance”
“On behalf of All progressive Congress (APC) I accept this very overwhelming mandate that the people of OGORI-MAGONGO have given to me, my Vice and our 10 Ward councillors”
My father and leader, his Excellency Alh.Yahaya Adoza Bello I will forever remain indebted to you for making me who I am today, my party Chairman,our leaders and so many people , my wife,my children, my siblings, my diverse members of the Ogori-Magongo family, those who opened their palaces to us, who received us, those who opened their houses and town meetings to us and their markets to receive our message of goodwill and good governance, thank you all from the bottom of my heart, I thank you all”
The Executive Chairman also thanked the public servants, all the transport workers, the Okada riders, the market men and women, farmers, all my campaign committee particularly the media for taking the message of APC far and near while also especially thanking officers, members and leadership of Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) who were up to the task professionally they have indeed demonstrated equity and fairness in the just concluded elections
While congratulating the chairman of KOSIEC Mr NDA Eri and all members of his team for a good job done, he singled out those who manned the polling units, PO, APO and party agents for their efforts.
Hon.Oparison while thanking the electorate, said this is a bigger mandate than the mandate at ward Level that brought him into legislative chamber as councillor back then which doubled that mandate “My understanding of it is that it is demanded of me to do more than I have done”
He also gave kudos to the opposition party for running a good race adding however that service to the people should now take the centre stage after the elections. “Now that the electioneering is over, for us, it is time to get to work” he said.
The newly sworn in Chairman urged the people to continue to live peacefully by respecting each other’s choices of religion, faith, clans and ethnic tribes, saying: As a government, we would continue to include and expand the opportunities for inclusion of everybody who lives within our Local Government. We would protect those who live according to the law and we would of course, act very decisively to ensure that there are no breaches of law and order”
” Our duty now is to consolidate on our efforts we started when we held sway as caretaker, we shall propel this local government to greater heights of development, we recognize the challenges ahead and in this sense I think the work of the electorate is not finished, the support you have given at the ballot is the kind of support that we would need behind us all the way as we go through three years”
In his words: “We remain dedicated as we have been ,we would work as hard as we have ever won.we would fly higher than we have ever flown we would sacrifice more than we have ever done, we hold this mandate sacred and we would never let you down”
Rt.Hon. Goke Oparison won the Chairmanship election with wide margin by scoring a total of 11,119 Votes to beat his rival Dr. Deitan Oyidi who scored 338 Votes as announced by the returning officer.
