The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially presented certificates of return to Usman Ododo, the Governor-Elect of Kogi State, and his running mate, Joel Salifu. The ceremony, marked by celebrations from a massive crowd of supporters, took place at the INEC headquarters in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State, on Friday.
In his address following the receipt of his certificate, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo expressed his commitment to ensuring good governance in Kogi State.
He emphasized his dedication to creating a just and egalitarian society, as well as fostering unity among the people.
The Governor-elect expressed his gratitude to the people of the State for their overwhelming support during the election, viewing it as a testament to the strength and unity of Kogi State.
Alhaji Ododo pledged to build upon the achievements of Governor Yahaya Bello, particularly in the areas of security, infrastructure, and education.
Usman Ododo, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured victory in the off-season governorship election held on November 11 in Kogi State. His triumph was evident with a commanding lead, amassing 446,237 votes, while Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party trailed behind with 259,052 votes. Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, garnered 46,362 votes.
He also promised to prioritize agricultural development, aiming to revolutionize the sector.
Furthermore, Alhaji Ododo affirmed his administration’s dedication to empowering the youth and women, vowing to continue the programs initiated by the current administration.
He stressed his unwavering commitment to providing employment opportunities for the youth and ensuring that education remains a top priority.
The Governor-elect emphasized that his victory in the election was a victory for all, promising an all-inclusive administration that would embrace individuals from all tribes, religions, and political affiliations.
Alhaji Ododo expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the people of Kogi State for their massive turnout and support for the APC.
