Some Leaders of the People’s Democratic party (PDP) have thrown their weight behind the candidacy of Hon. Mohammed Sani Gambo, to emerge as the Party Chairman In Kogi State.
The latest endorsement was coming from the party Leaders in Bassa-Mosoum Ward and other parts of the state, who expressed their readiness to use all their influence to support him.
The leaders in their separate interviews with our Correspondent on Monday in Lokoja, described the candidature of Hon. Mohammed Sani Gambo for the state PDP chairmanship position as a step in the right direction.
According to them , their support for Hon. Gambo is a reflection of the position of stakeholders of the party.
Hon. Isah Husseini, a PDP Leader, urged other party stakeholders from other parts of the state to support the candidature of Hon. Gambo from Bassa LGA.
Husseini stressed that it was the turn of the area to produce the state chairman of the PDP.
Also speaking, Hon. Abdulmumin Salihu, said for fairness and equity to prevail, Bassa should be allowed to produce the state chairman this time around.
Salihu, who was a former chairman of the PDP in Bassa LGA, commended other supporters of the Chairmanship aspirant for their solidarity and support to zoning the position to Bassa.
Another PDP Leader, Hon. Abu Salman, said the call for zoning of the state PDP chairmanship position to Bassa, was a just call which should not be taken lightly.
Salman described Hon. Mohammed Sani Gambo as very a good party man who is qualified to head the party in view of his many years of service to the party in various capacities.
On his part, the PDP Ozigbo Ward Chairman, in Bassa, Hon. Umar Ibrahim, said the massive support for Hon. Gambo as the next Kogi PDP Chairman, was not s misplaced priority, and described him as a candidate to beat.
Ibrahim called on all supporters of the party to join hands to ensure that the Chairmanship position came to Bassa LGA, which had never swayed in its support for PDP.
It will be recalled that recently, ten Ward Leaders of the party in Bassa Local government area, endorsed the candidature of Hon. Mohammed Sani Gambo for the state PDP chairmanship position.
Responding to the gesture from Party Leaders, Hon. Gambo, expressed gratitude to the party leaders in Bassa and other parts of the state for their massive support for his aspiration.
He stressed that their support and prayers was what he needed at this time.
The PDP chairmanship hopeful said he had commenced consultations with major PDP stakeholders on his aspiration.
According to him, the party at this time needs the vibrancy required to rebounce fully, noting that the PDP was a grassroot party with membership cutting across all segments of the society.
He, therefore urged party stakeholders to extend their support to him and assured them of a new dawn in the fortunes of PDP if given the chance to lead the party.in the state.
