Kogi state house of assembly has received a petition calling for the dethronement of the Olu of Oworo land, Muhammed Baiyerohi.
The petition which was written by Iwomasi ruling houses of Oworo Kingdom was laid and read at plenary by the member representing lokoja two constituency, Idris Ndako.
He said the call for the dethronement of the traditional ruler is to avert looming large scale crisis on the grand of his discretion of customs and tradition of Oworo Kingdom.
He said the traditional ruler was been accused of causing disaffection and disharmony among communities and people of Oworo Kingdom in lokoja local government.
In his submission the Speaker Prince Mathew Kolawole, however committed the petition to the house committee on petition and asked it to report back to the house in three weeks.
In another development, the kogi state house of assembly has called on the state government to set up a joint security patrol taskforce to checkmate the rising cases of kidnapping and armed robbery across the state.
It also urged the state police command to ensure a twenty four hour surveillance on the hot spots.
These were contained in a motion sponsored by the member representing ijumu state constituency, Olusola Kilani Olumo.
He said even though there was heavy presence of security personnel on the obajana-kabba road that has not stopped the activities of the men of the underworld.
Members in their contribution commended the efforts of the state government in tackling security challenges in the last four years but lamented that such efforts were been eroded with the resurgence of kidnapping and armed robbery in the state.
The Speaker in his ruling said the security problems in the state was worrisome as people can no longer sleep with their eyes closed.
He said that assembly would look into ways it can empower the state government to address the issue of insecurity through necessary legislation.
In the meantime the kogi state house of assembly has passed into law the Nigeria-Korea friendship institute of vocational and Advancement Technology.
The bill seeks to make kogi state a technological innovation centre.
The passage of the bill followed a clause by clause consideration at plenary.
