Labour Leader commends Kwara State Govt . on high female cabinet /political appointees.

The Vice President, Industrial Global Union, Comrade Issa Aremu has commended Kwara State Government for having the highest number of female cabinet members and politiĀ­cal appointees.

Comrade Aremu who gave the commedation at the commissioning and official handing over of a block of two toilet facilities he donated to Araromi Ayegun Junior Secondary School in Asa LGA of the State as part of activities marking this year’s International Women’s Day praised Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for being the first African leader to have given women folk an unprecedented representation in government.

He explained that similar donation of a block of twin toilets was made exactly a year ago to mark the 2019 International Womenā€™s Day stressing that the gesture is to make teaching and learning more conducive for both teachers and students of the school.

The Labour Leader added that the gesture is also to compliments State Government’s effort and commitment to improve sanitation and hygiene in line with Sustainable Development Goals Number six (6) which seeks to achieve access to adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene for all and end open defecation as well as paying special attention to the needs of vulnerable women and girls by 2030.

Comrade Aremu who is also the General Secretary of the National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria also used the occasion to share some safety tips against corona virus code named COVID-19 stressing that prevention is better than cure.

In their separate remarks, the Principal of the benefitting school, Mallam Kelani Toyin Suleiman and the Magaji of Araromi-Ayegun, Mallam Ilyas Saliu appreciated Comrade Issa Aremu for the kind gesture which they said would go a long way in making teaching and learning meaningful for the students.

They however, called for more from government and public spirited individuals especially the perimeter fencing of the school to safeguard the toilet facilities from vandalization.

The programme which had in attendance dignitaries from all walks of life featured drama and cultural presentations from the students to symbolize importance of women in the contemporary society.
