
*Oseni trains youths on ICT, empowers them with laptops*
In view of increased roles of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in marketing and other commercial activities, Senator Yakubu Oseni has trained 50 youths on skills to harvest optimal benefits from the digital world.
The 2-day training programme which was concluded yesterday at the De Villa Hotel GRA Okene, was executed in conjunction with Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy and Weal Moor Services Limited. The participants who were drawn from five Local Government Areas of Kogi Central Senatorial District were given laptops as incentive to venture into online trading.
Senator Oseni who is the chairman, Senate Committee on Information and Communication Technology/Cybercrime noted that the world is rapidly going through digital revolution such that most profitable businesses have benefitted from the ICT world.
While charging the participants through his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Aliyu Bello, the lawmaker enlightened that companies and individuals that adopt ICT in marketing have easy access to vast global information resources which facilitate valuable competitive knowledge and information that simplifies decision process.
“We are in the era where every aspect of human life is driven by ICT. It is a useful marketing tool for whatever business you’re doing currently. It has become difficult to imagine a business organization that is not ICT-compliant. That underscores importance of this skill acquisition programme,” he said.
Meanwhile, one of the resource persons at the training, Mr Idris Umar Farouk who spoke extensively on some of the tools to market products in the cyberspace emphasised that ICT marketing benefits businesses of all sizes by giving access to the mass market at an affordable price.
He said “As young entrepreneurs that will be going into real time online marketing, endeavor to utilise Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (SEM), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising and some other tools that will make your transactions much more seamless and effective.
Ahmed Saka Bachido who gave vote of thanks on behalf of the participants appreciated the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy and Senator Yakubu Oseni for bringing the laudable programme to the doorstep of the people of Kogi Central Senarial District.
Bachido specifically noted that the tenure of Senator Oseni has been dotted with visible infrastructure and impactful intervention schemes that have lasting impression of his constituents.
