HAJJ is among the five pillars of Islam. Being the last pillar, it is not compulsory on all, but only on those who can afford it. The Glorious Qur’an (3:7) says: “pilgrimage thereto is a duty men owe to Allah, those who can afford the means”.
The largest place where Muslims worship annually in this world is during the HAJJ. Here, Muslims from all over the world meet every year. Over two million of people gathered together in one particular place to offer prayers.
The mammoth crowd could be similarly liken to the crowd in the day of judgement (reckoning) when all mankind, jinns and angels will gather in one particular place before the Almighty Allah. There, each and every individual, will account for his or her actions during his or her sojourn on Earth.
In life, there are those who are born with great destiny, some achieve greatness and others have greatness thrust upon them. Alhaji Abdulrahman Gimba, could be described as a man with great destiny who went through the ladder of life to achieve greatness.
The story of Alhaji Abdulrahman Gimba, who hailed from Geregu in Ajaokuta Local government of Kogi Central, Kogi state, is a riveting tail of a man who defied the unbearable circumstance of life as it were, to reach the top by sheer dint of hard work. Indeed, this goes to validate Johnson’s assertion that “men are limited not by the place of circumstance of the colour of their skin but by the size of their dreams and the content of their character”. The millionaire business mogul, is one singular individual in private sector whom his business contemporaries and his community at large, accept as a shinning example of modern day philanthropist, and that is on account of many things he has been doing to touch people’s lives under the auspices of his Foundation.
Alhaji Abdulrahman Gimba, belief and commitment to the Almighty Allah is legendary and his faith in Allah’s Providence is unwavering. He believes in the Quran’s Injunction which stipulates that “Nothing is given unto man except he receives it from Heaven”. This concept has conditioned his attitudes in accepting any human challenges and without harbouring animosity and grudges against any one who must have wrong him. He has always been conscious of the wonderful hands of Almighty Allah in his life as well as his shortcomings as a human-being and this has accounted for the manner he easily forgives and forget any wrongs done to him.
Alhaji Abdulrahman Gimba’, is one of the men in our society today who writes their names in kindness and mercy in the heart of thousands that come in contact that can never be forgotten. The names and the good deeds of such men will always shine as stars of heavens.
Alhaji Abdulrahman Gimba, is one of the great men who believes in doing well and leaving behind a moment of virtue that the storm of life can never destroy. He is a man of Saint and modern day philanthropist.
To put his versatility in context, Alhaji Abdulrahman Gimba, even with his high-life in business environment, did not lose sight of his background. He was close to his roots and was instrumental to his people’s well-being and community service. His community, Ebiraland, indeed, are so blessed to have him as both a patriot son and as a worthy global representative in his field of endeavor.
I was privileged to have known him during one of the Sallah celebrations in his home resident at Geregu in Ajaokuta Local government, where he ritually and disposing Sallah gestures to his people. Because of this magnanimous periodic dispositions, his resident always witness mammoth crowd to the liken to the crowd of Mecca.
