Special Adviser Due Process lauds Governor Ododo for paying WAEC fees for students in Kogi

The Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Good Governance and Due Process Hon. Aturu Ojo has commended His Excellency Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the payment of N600 million as 2024/2025 WAEC fees for 18,734 Students in public secondary schools in the state.

The Special Adviser gave the commendation while speaking with newsmen in Lokoja , Kogi State.

He lauded Governor Ododo for prioritizing education, saying the gesture would go a long way in removing burden from parents especially those at the grassroots.

Speaking further, the Special Adviser , said the free education policy introduced by the immediate past administration led by the former governor of the state Alhaji Yahaya Bello and sustained by his successor His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo would assist the children of the less privilege in the state to acquire education with ease.

He called parents/guardians whose children/wards are beneficiaries of the gesture to take their studies serious in order to spur the government to do more for them in the area of education.

“To whom much is given much is expected in return. The state government has played it’s part of paying the external examination fees, it is now left for the students to come with flying colours at the end of the examination.

“I am using this medium to appeal to all students in public schools whose WAEC fees has been paid to sit down and concentrate on their studies so that at the end of the examination they can make the state proud by coming out with good result that can earn them admissions into any university in the country” he stated.

While appreciating the commitments of the governor toward education, Hon. Aturu warned principals not to sabotage the effort of the government by indulging on shoddy deals that can rubbish government intention.

He also thank the commissioner for education Mr Wemi Jones for doing the right thing in the sector, describing education as the bedrock of nation’s development.
