KWSG Reiterates Commitment To Youth-driven Agric Initiatives

Kwara State government has reiterated its unwavering commitment to youth-driven agricultural initiatives towards making the teeming youths across the State self reliant.
Commissioner for Youth Development, Ambassador Ndanusa Usman Shehu, who made this known on Thursday in Ilorin, the state capital, at the Kwara South Consultative Youth Forum’s Annual Agriculture Summit, with the theme: “Empowering Youth Through Agriculture”, lauded Kwara South youths for their dedication and vision, praising them for taking charge of their future.
He emphasised that agriculture is a viable and He sector that could absorb thousands of unemployed youths with little or no startup capital.
He said: “With minimal resources, any determined youth can succeed in agriculture. The government of today stands solidly behind you. We are not just supporting you from afar we are also walking this journey with you.”
Ambassador Ndanusa also applauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his inclusive policies and steadfast support for youth empowerment, noting that the Governor’s commitment has made forums like this possible.
The Deputy Chief of Staff, Princess Bukola Babalola, representing the Chief of Staff, also delivered a goodwill message, urging young people to remain steadfast and to represent their communities with pride, while also reinforcing the State’s alignment with youth agricultural goals.
“This government is not just watching, you are part of the plan. Agriculture is not just about farming; it is about building a future that belongs to you,” she assured the youths.
In his speech, the President of the Kwara South Youth Forum, Comrade Gabriel Omoniyi, expressed deep appreciation for the State’s responsiveness to youth issues, stressing that the summit would inspire a new wave of independence, self-reliance, and job creation among young people in Kwara South.
Notable attendees at the event included the Commissioner for Livestock Development, Mrs Oluwatoyosi Thomas, Chief Engr. Simeon Daramola, Prince Goke Folayan, several agricultural experts, stakeholders and Community leaders.
