The Executive Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area and Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Kogi State Chapter, Hon. Tosin Olokun, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the security of lives and properties as he delivered relief materials to security operatives stationed in Okoloke, a strategic location in the ongoing military operation in Yagba West.

Olokun, who was represented by the Supervisor for Education and Special Duties, Hon. Adeyeye Victor Oluwafemi, charged the security personnel to remain steadfast, resolute, and ruthless in the ongoing crackdown against criminal elements threatening the peace and stability of the local government.

“There shall be no hiding place for criminals in Yagba West. We will not allow a few individuals to destabilise our communities and instill fear in our people. The security of every life and property is not only a responsibility but a duty we owe to our citizens, and we shall not relent,” he declared.

Olokun commended the gallantry, discipline, and patriotism of the security operatives, describing them as “true heroes of peace and defenders of our land.” He assured them of the full backing of the local government in their mission to restore order and protect residents.

“No sacrifice is too much in the defence of our land. You are not alone in this mission. The people of Yagba West stand with you, and our administration will continue to provide the needed resources and support,” he said.

The chairman assured residents that all persons currently in captivity will be rescued through coordinated actions by security agencies and community support, stressing that the military operation is already yielding positive results.

“We are optimistic that with your continued cooperation and credible information, all victims will regain their freedom and the perpetrators will face the full wrath of the law,” he added.

He urged residents of Yagba West to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and to promptly report any suspicious movement or individuals to the appropriate authorities.

“Timely and credible information can prevent attacks and save lives. Let us work together to reclaim our communities. This is our home; we must not abandon it to criminals,” he said.

As part of the outreach, the council team visited and held separate meetings with traditional rulers, elders, and stakeholders in Okoloke, Okunran, and Isanlu-Esa. The visits were aimed at instilling confidence in the people, discouraging them from deserting their homes, and reinforcing the government’s presence and capacity to respond effectively to security threats.

In each of the three communities, Olokun’s message was consistent: “You are not alone. The government is fully on ground and working around the clock to guarantee your safety and root out all criminal elements disturbing the peace of Yagba West.”

He called for unity among the communities and stated the need for cooperation with security operatives and inter-agency collaboration to achieve lasting peace and sustainable development.

Relief materials distributed to the operatives included food items, bottled water, medical supplies, and other essential items meant to boost their morale and welfare on the frontline.

Community leaders and residents expressed appreciation for the visit and pledged their support for ongoing efforts to secure Yagba West, describing the chairman’s actions as timely and reassuring.
