The Kogi State House of Assembly has concluded the legislative process on the 2026 Appropriation Bill following its passage into law during plenary on Tuesday, 30th December, 2025, and the formal presentation of the Appropriation Law to His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, who assented to the Bill on Wednesday, 31st December, 2025.
The ₦820,490,585,443.00 2026 Appropriation Bill was passed after extensive deliberations and rigorous scrutiny by the House, reflecting the Assembly’s commitment to fiscal discipline, accountability, and effective support for the state’s development agenda.
Presenting the Appropriation Law in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, stated that members of the House worked tirelessly to ensure the timely passage of the budget, with many lawmakers sacrificing the Christmas holidays in the overall interest of Kogi State. He added that the Assembly remains fully committed to providing the necessary legal framework to support the policies and programmes of the present administration.
The Deputy Speaker of the House and Member representing Ibaji State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba, commended the leadership of the House and her colleagues for their dedication, describing the successful conclusion of the 2026 budget process as a clear demonstration of the Assembly’s resolve to promote good governance and deliver people-centred legislation.
She expressed confidence that the implementation of the 2026 Appropriation Law would translate into tangible development and improved socio-economic outcomes for the people of Kogi State.
