Safe my constituents from kidnappers, armed thieves – *Y/ East Lawmaker, Obaro begs Gov Bello

The member representing Yagba East constituency at the Kogi State House Of Assembly, Hon Emmanuel Obaro, has appealed to the state government to direct security agencies to ensure twenty four hours surveillance to stem the tide of kidnapping and armed stealing in his constituency.

The Lawmaker in a motion of urgent public importance moved during plenary sitting at the assembly complex in Lokoja said that the ugly trend of kidnapping and armed robbery was spreading fast in yagba East constituency as six people were kidnapped in the last one week.

He explained that Governor Yahaya Bello in the last eight years had achieved a lot in securing the lives and properties of the people but the recent activities of criminals in the area were gradually grinding social and economic activities to a halt.

Obaro also appealed to the government to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Seconding the motion, the member representing Igalamela/Odolu state constituency, Enefola Major who is also the House committee chairman on vigilante said the cases of kidnapping and armed robbery had become rampant in the state.

He said there was need to invite the commander of vigilante service in the state for the house to have interface with him and ascertain the challenges of the service to see ways they could be addressed.

In his ruling, the Speaker Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf, said Governor Yahaya Bello had in the last eight years tackled insecurity and now that his administration was winding down the criminals were trying to rear their ugly heads.

He urged the newly appointed heads of transition committees at the local government areas to ensure security in their councils
