The Caretaker Chairman of Ajaokuta local government, Hon. Haruna Aliyu Ogido has charged the members of the Nigerian Legion of Ex-servicemen in the area to join hands with his administration to maintain and sustain peaceful co-existence of all in their various communities and areas. Hon. Haruna Ogido gave the charge in his address at council secretariat,

Adogo during the celebration of year 2024 Armed forces remembrance day. He commended and appreciated the supreme sacrifices made by the fallen heroes and ex-servicemen in preserving the unity, oneness and invisibility of United Nigeria. The council Boss then promise to collaborate with the members of the Nigerian Legion to make them more functional in their family responsibilities. The chairman who was represented at the occasion by the Director of Local Government, Mall. Salihu Eku Musa, reminded legionnaires to report any threat to peace and security in their communities and areas to the government. Earlier, the Legion chairman in Ajaokuta local government, Emmanuel Irikiti commended the state government under Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello for according Nigerian Legion good recognition. He praised the gallantry of the fallen heroes and those that survived the Nigeria civil war to sustain the existence of the country with respect and reminded the present members of the armed forces to be patriotic in discharging their duties. He urged the Nigerian Legion in kogi state to support and work in harmony with the Governor-Elect, His Excellency, Alh. Dodo Ahmed Usman to continue the good legacies of his predecessor when he takes over the mantle of leadership of the state. The Ajaokuta LEGION chairman’s address which was delivered by the Legion Secretary, Mr. Samuel Dada applauded the state government for appointment of caretaker committee for local government councils and prayed for the success tenure of the chairman of Ajaokuta , Hon. Haruna Aliyu Ogido. The highlights of the celebration showed donations, decoration of eminent personalities with emblem, parade by legion members and laying of wreath for the remembrance of unknown soldiers that loss their life by the chairman, legion chair, DLG and Traditional ruler. In a remark, the local government Treasurer. Mall. Abdulraheem Abdulsalsmi reminded the Legion members to support the government by partnering in maintenance and sustenance of peaceful coexistence in their localities. He praised their family responsibilities of training their wards and orphans in spite the present hardship in the country. Performing the votes of thanks, the branch legion Secretary, Me. Samuel Dada thanked the local government for identifying and partnering with the Legion for the successful celebration and prayed to God for guidance and journey mercy back to their various destinations.
