In furtherance of the earlier efforts to mitigate the security challenges within Mopamuro LGA and its environs, the Caretaker Chairman, Hon Ademola Bello Destiny in his usual proactiveness held a peace and Security meeting at the Council Secretariat with farmers, TIV, Ebira and Fulani/myetti Allah groups to ensure a lasting solution to farmers/herders crisis in the area.
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you most cordially to this official meeting. It becomes expedient to invite you through Sarikinfulani as a result of cumulative effort which is bourne out of my preparedness to maintain harmonious relationship with non indigenes living on the soil of our LG, the Chairman briefed members of the meeting.
According to Hon. Destiny, he reiterate his desire for a narrow trust gap amongst the constituents such that there will be impressive commitment to one of the core values (security) of the administration of His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo amongst the Hausa/Fulani, Tiv, farmers and the security agents in order to foster peaceful coexistence.
Furthermore, I will not condone any form of barbaric acts that will undermine the safety of lives and properties of my people and their crops. We all know the chain lines of farming and at the end of all the labour, herders will now glorifies their cattles with the farm produce thereby rendering them with nothing to show for their labour. I will personally lead the ejection of such herder(s) out of our land, the Chairman emphatically stated.
However, I assure you all that you are free from any form of harassment or intimation of any kind from any quarter because my mandate is not to watch over my people only through security agents but all our citizens/ inhabitants the Chairman added.
In the same vein, the farmers were admonished not to take laws into their hands but rather report such cases to the appropriate authority.
The forgoing are the basis for which the security meeting premised.
The leader of the Muyetti Allah group appreciated the Chairman for counting them worthy of his invitation. He thanked him for the assurance of absence of intimidation from any quarter and appeal for cooperation from the farmers as well. He further assured the Chairman that they will live within the confines of rules and regulations as they remain a people who are peace loving and law abiding.
