Kogi State House of Assembly has described as false, rumours making the rounds that the Speaker, Prince Mathew Kolawole ran away with the Mace to Abuja to prevent the house from impeaching him.
Chairman House Committee on Information, Musa Jimoh debunked the rumour while speaking to the assembly press corps after plenary at the assembly complex in Lokoja.
He described those peddling the rumour as mischief makers who were bent on causing disharmony and disaffection amongst the people of the state.
Mr Jimoh who is the member representing Yagba East state constituency said Prince Mathew Kolawole remains the speaker of the house and house never contemplated his impeachment.
While maintaining that the social media was a good medium of communication warned those who sit in the comfort of their home to write false and fake stories to misinform the public.
