Speaker Kogi state House of Assembly, Prince Matthew Kolawole has described the erosion menace in some parts of the state as worrisome as it has become a recurring motion on the floor of the house.
To this end he directed the house standing committee on land to visit the erosion sites in Yagba East and Yagba West Local Government Areas to ascertain the level of deverstation caused by the erosion.
The directive followed a motion appealing to the State Government to tackle the erosion menace confronting some communities in Yagba East Local Government Area sponsored by Musa Jimoh, member representing Yagba East state constituency.
He said that the erosion menace was highly threatening as it had deprived the people from carrying out their livelihoods.
He explained that a hospital, houses and roads have been destroyed by the erosion.
Seconding the motion, the member representing Yagba West State Constituency, Aderonke Aro said some communities in his constituency was equally affected by the erosion menace as farmers could no longer bring their farm products to the market.
The speaker madated the committee to report back to the house so that it can make proper and comprehensive recommendations to the appropriate authorities for necessary action.
