My bill on Steel University Ajaokuta still intact – *Senator Oseni*
Senator Yakubu Oseni representing Kogi Central Senatorial District has cleared the air on the state of his bill seeking establishment of Steel University, Ajaokuta.
In a statement signed by his Personal Assistant, Mall. Yusuf Abdulmumin, the Senator reassured his constituents who genuinely sought to know the state of the bill, saying it is still very much in progress.
The lawmaker made the declaration today on the heels of Senate’s recent approval of Federal University of Education, Ankpa and Federal University of Agriculture, Kabba sponsored by Senators Isah Jibrin and Smart Adeyemi respectively.
Senator Oseni who appreciated the sincere concern of his constituents and stakeholders in the steel sector noted that the proposed Steel University, Ajaokuta is a specialized university that requires some technicalities before establishment and reiterated that the process of assenting to it would still take a little time because of its peculiar nature.
“While we continue to pray for speedy presidential assent on the bills establishing two federal universities in our dear state, I like to congratulate my colleagues, Senator Smart Adeyemi and Senator Isah Echocho for their resilience and commitment in making sure that Kogi State is a centre for learning,” he said.
While expressing optimism that the bill would sail through necessary processes, Senator Oseni emphasized that the proposed specialized university would bridge the intractable intellectual and manpower gaps in steel sector and complement our efforts to breakaway from decades of monolithic and crude-oil centred economy.
Senator Oseni urged his constituents and Nigerians in general to always pray for their leaders and seek the progress of the country at all time.
