The Vice Chancellor Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU) Anyigba, Kogi State Professor Marietu Tenuche has appealed to the state government to prioritize the welfare of staff of tertiary institutions in order to enhance their efficiency and service delivery.
Professor Tenuche made the appeal while interacting with journalists shortly after she defended the 2025 budget of the university at Kogi State House of Assembly in Lokoja.
The Vice Chancellor who stated that the staff of tertiary institutions especially universities should be encouraged , said a lot need to be done in the area of welfare of staff in order to maintain and retained them for optimum service delivery to the institutions.
“That is why we are putting pressure on government to ensure that the welfare of staff are well taking care of , so that we can maintain and retained the numbers of staff we have.
‘I am also appealing to Kogi State Government to prioritize promotion with cash-back to encourage staff of tertiary institutions in the state”
Speaking on the projection of PAAU in the next five years, the Vice Chancellor said it was in her prayers and struggles to see that in the nearest future her university can favourably compete with any universities in Nigeria and globally.
