Broadcasting Corporation
Since her appointment by His Excellency, Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, as the Director General of the Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation, Hajia Nana Hawa Yusuf has demonstrated exceptional leadership and capacity, significantly revitalizing the operations of Confluence Radio 94.1 FM.
Under her stewardship, the once-irregular and epileptic transmission of the station has become a thing of the past. Today, Kogites enjoy consistent, clear, and engaging broadcasts that reflect professionalism and innovation. News delivery is now balanced, accurate, and timely—no longer monotonous, but truly informative and compelling.
New and dynamic programmes that reflect the yearnings and aspirations of the people have been introduced—programmes like State of Kogi—providing fresh and relevant content to a diverse audience. The station now ensures equal representation of all ethnic groups in the state, allowing each community a platform to inform, educate, and entertain their people.
Musical sessions blend nostalgic tunes with contemporary sounds, offering listeners a rich cultural experience. Religious content is handled with fairness, granting equal airtime to adherents of both major religions in the state.
Voice presentations by staff are now more professional—well articulated, clear, and relatable. The station has struck a fine balance between good diction and listener accessibility, without artificial accents.
Perhaps one of the most remarkable transformations is the station’s broadcast duration. Previously unable to sustain six hours of transmission, Confluence Radio now airs for up to fourteen hours daily (6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.), consistently engaging its audience.
In summary, Hajia Nana Hawa Yusuf, as “The Amazon”—has realigned the station with its founding objectives: to educate, inform, and entertain. Her impact is evident, and the station is now capable of competing favourably with its counterparts across Nigeria, particularly in the North Central region.
Gratitude goes to Governor Ododo and his Executive Council for entrusting her with this role. Her performance reaffirms the station’s motto: “First and Still the Best.”
To the indefatigable Director General, this is only the beginning. The sky is truly your limit.
Congratulations, my Amazon.
