Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has sent a delegation to Ajase-Ipo in the Irepodun local government to commiserate with the Olupo, Oba Ismail Yahaya Alebiosu, and the people of Kwara South on the recent death of Oludopo of Okeya-Ipo, Oba Saheed Opadokun.

Led by the Senior Adviser and Counsellor Alhaji Sa’adu Salau, the delegation was also in Ajase-Ipo community to sympathise with the Olupo and the people on the fire outbreak at Ajase-Ipo Kara Market, where several shops were burnt.

Other members of the delegation included the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Jiddah; Special Adviser on Media, Alhaji Bashir Adigun; Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Rafiu Ajakaye; Senior Special Assistant on Religion (Islam), Alhaji Ibrahim Danmeigoro; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Livestock, Alhaji Muhammed Yahya; APC Chieftain, Alhaji Abdulrahaman Giwa; and the State Emergency Management Agency led by their Secretary, Saadu Moshood Mogaji.

They were received at the Palace by the Olupo, alongside the member representing Irepodun Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon Olushola Odetundun; Chairman of Irepodun, Hon. AbdulAzeez Yakub; Special Assistant on Fulani Community, Abdullahi Seriki; and other high chiefs.

Salau expressed the sympathy of Governor AbdulRazaq with the monarch and the community on the sad incidents.

“On behalf of His Excellency, we are here to commiserate with the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo on the passing of the Oludopo of Okeya-Ipo, Oba Saheed Opadokun, and on the fire incident at the Kara market,” Salau told reporters on the sideline of the visit.

“His Excellency commends his royal highness, the security agency and personnel of the fire service for their prompt attention that did not allow the spread of the fire incident, and assures his royal highness and the community of his commitment to the welfare of the people.

“The Governor is particularly grateful to the Olupo and the entire traditional council for his leadership support to the government in the efforts to better secure Kwarans, particularly the people of Kwara South.”

He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to stemming security challenges in parts of the country, as the recent arrest of two kingpins of terrorist organizations showed.

The arrest is a clear indication of a prospect that the security threats will soon become a thing of the past in Nigeria, he said.

The delegation also gave some relief materials to the livestock traders, who were affected by the outbreak, while taking inventories of the losses.

Olupo, for his part, appreciated the Governor’s prompt response to their distress call during the fire disaster and for sending a delegation to the community for condolences.

The monarch commended Governor AbdulRazaq’s respect for the traditional institution and how he prioritises their welfare and issues affecting their communities, promising their continual support for the Governor.

He also acknowledged and commended the steps being taken by Governor AbdulRazaq to address the security challenge in the state.

“We thank him most sincerely for the welfare and the attention accorded to the traditional institution since inception of his administration. I am particularly grateful to him for his swift action on the fire incident at Kara market,” he said.

“We want to particularly thank His Excellency, our ever responsive, responsible, hardworking and efficient Executive Governor. Honestly speaking, I am not mincing words, using those adjectives. His Excellency is truly responsive.

“Less than 12 days ago, he was here with us in the Palace to brief the traditional institution in the entire Kwara South on the state of security, particularly in this region. We were all pleased that he is working hard in conjunction with Mr President and the National Security Adviser to the President in ensuring that a lasting solution is achieved.”

The market leaders, including Sarkin Kara, Alhaji Sheu Garba; Babaloja Kara, Bello Ganiyu Olubuade; and Iyaloja Kara, Falilat Asunmoge appreciated the Governor for his responsiveness and support for them.
