The Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba has been conferred with the Most Outstanding Kogi Female Legislator Award.
The Award was conferred on the Deputy Speaker at an event tagged Kogi @ 34 and Public Lecture and Award in celebration of the thirty fourth year of the creation of Kogi State organized by the publisher of Nigerian Post, Mr. Mike Abuh in Lokoja.
Receiving the award, Hon. Egwaba thanked God and the Nigerian Post for finding her worthy for the award.
“Where we are today especially where I am is a call to service and is so nice and so amazing to know that some people out there are watching what you’re doing and when you’re been watched on whatever task that you are into and there now deem it fit to say thank you, because I see award as a kind of appreciation to the little you’re doing and today I am been awarded as the most outstanding female legislator in Kogi State.”
She commended the Publisher of Nigerian Post, Mr. Mike Abuh for his consistency in organising the annual event, adding that the award will spur her to do more.
“Well I thanked God and give him all the glory, and this award will spur me more into doing more because once there say you have been doing this, you have been doing that and we want to thank you, they are indirectly telling you we need you to do more and by God’s grace, God will lead me to do more for the people in this State. Is a call to service and we’re there to serve the people.”
Hon. Egwaba dedicated the award to God Almighty and her constituents for giving her the opportunity to serve by electing her as the first female lawmaker from the area.
On the 34th anniversary celebration of the creation of Kogi State, the Deputy Speaker noted that the State has made significant progress in the last thirty four years.
“Well we have gone a long way, so far so good, if you see from the creation of Kogi up to this moment, there is a lot of monumental changes and Kogi clocking thirty four is another step of progressive progress and there is a lot of progress in all this years down and at 34 we’re good to go in terms of Education, health, human development and politically so Kogi at 34 we’re the best and we will continue to be the best. Is a baby State but we could equate ourselves even with the older State and so we can not have it more good than now and what we are having in Kogi now, some of us that has started with it can not take it for granted so we bless God for Kogi.”
On the expectations of Kogites from the current 8th Assembly going forward, Hon. Egwaba described the current lawmakers as exceptional in quality representation.
“If you see the crew of men and women in this 8th Assembly, we’re good to go, we’re accessible in our various Constituency and Governance and you can see us that we’re really doing the best that we can do, so the 8th Assembly is out to do the best that the people that brought us there needed us to do and we’re doing it.”
