The Kogi Central Persons with Disability Association (KCPWDA), led by Hon. Yakubu Nazir Abdulhakeem (Brain Not Legs), Executive Secretary of the Kogi State Office for Disability Affairs and President of the disabled community in Kogi Central, paid a courtesy visit to Chief Dr. Habibat Oyiza Tijjani Nee Onumoko FCNA, FCTI, Accountant General of Kogi State. During the visit, we expressed special appreciation for her kindness and support, which have been a constant source of inspiration.
The Accountant General’s understanding of our needs is evident in the remarkable achievements in our office, including the concreting of the compound to make it accessible for all persons with disabilities, especially wheelchair users. We are grateful for her commitment to inclusivity and humanitarian services, including providing cash, clothes, and food items to our community yesterday.
I extend my unreserved appreciation to His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his visionary leadership and commitment to inclusive governance. The Governor’s trust in our Executive Secretary exemplifies his administration’s dedication to empowering persons with disabilities. We also acknowledge the former Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, for laying the foundation for inclusivity in Kogi State.
The Accountant General’s advice to avoid begging, which is not part of our culture, has been particularly impactful. We urge the community of persons with disabilities to remain united, embracing one voice and working towards a common goal. Let’s put aside ethnicity, tribalism, and egoism, and strive for a brighter future.
