Kogi Deputy Speaker Deliver Keynote Address, calls for women’s understanding of electoral laws

The Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba delivered a powerful keynote address today at the Stakeholder Inception Meeting on “Improving Inclusivity and Participation of Women in Electoral Process in Kogi State.”

The meeting organized by the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room and the Challenged Parenthood Initiative (CPI), with support from UK International Development, was held at the Modern Age Event Hall, Lokoja.

​In her address, the Deputy Speaker passionately affirmed the project’s objective to enhance women’s understanding of electoral laws and processes and strengthen their engagement with key electoral stakeholders and institutions.

​The Lawmaker declared, “Effective participation in democracy isn’t just about showing up to vote; it’s about being informed. Women must be empowered with the knowledge of electoral laws and processes to fully engage with and hold our electoral institutions accountable. Our goal is ”More Women,more Voices”for Stronger Democracy,’ and the Assembly stands ready to facilitate legislative support for this crucial initiative.
