Kogi ADP Targets Stronger Extension Services, Infrastructure in 2026 Budget

The Managing Director of Kogi State Agricultural Development Project (ADP), Mr. George Ogirima Bello, says the agency’s 2026 budget proposal is primarily designed to strengthen agricultural extension delivery services and improve office infrastructure across the state.
Mr. Bello stated this while defending the agency’s 2026 budget before the Kogi State House of Assembly in Lokoja.
According to him, ADP remains the custodian of extension delivery services in the agricultural sector, stressing that meaningful agricultural development cannot be achieved without effective extension services.
“When we talk about agricultural development without extension services, we are only wasting our time. Extension is where technology is transferred and introduced to farmers.”
The Managing Director noted that traditional farming methods are no longer sustainable due to the growing population, noting that the adoption of modern technology and mechanisation is critical to achieving food sufficiency and abundance in the state.
He expressed optimism that the coming year would witness a boost in the state’s agricultural sector, citing ongoing capacity-building programmes for extension agents who will be deployed to guide farmers on best practices at different stages of production.
Mr. Bello further revealed that the ADP operates six zonal offices spread across the state, covering all local government areas, to ensure effective monitoring and support for farmers in line with approved agricultural standards.
He assured lawmakers that with adequate funding, the agency would enhance service delivery and contribute significantly to agricultural growth and food security in Kogi State.
