

The Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba, on Wednesday 21st January 2026, attended the flag-off ceremony for the distribution of mobility aids and cash support to persons with disabilities across the state, led by His Excellency, Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo. The intervention, implemented under the Ohunene Empowerment Initiative, is a pet project of the First Lady of Kogi State, Her Excellency Hajiya Sefinat Ahmed Usman Ododo, aimed at promoting inclusion, dignity, and improved quality of life for vulnerable citizens.
The event featured the distribution of wheelchairs, crutches, walking sticks, cane guides, sunscreen creams for persons living with albinism, as well as cash grants to beneficiaries from different parts of the state. Governor Ododo commended the First Lady for her compassion-driven leadership, noting that the initiative aligns with the administration’s commitment to social welfare, equity, and people-centered governance.
In her remarks, the Deputy Speaker applauded the First Lady’s unwavering dedication to empowering persons with disabilities. She described the Ohunene Empowerment Initiative as a clear demonstration of inclusive leadership and urged beneficiaries to make effective use of the support provided to enhance their independence and livelihoods.
