The Kwara State Police Command has intensified its clampdown on violent crime, recording a significant breakthrough with the arrest of two suspected armed robbers in Amoyo area in the Ifelodun local government area.
The suspects, identified as Abdulazeez Isiaq, popularly known as “Pumpin,” and Rilwan Mohammed, were apprehended following a robbery incident reported on April 19, 2026, at the Amoyo Division. The incident occurred around Kabba Kajola Junction, where victims were reportedly attacked and dispossessed of their belongings.
Police sources disclosed that the operation was intelligence-led and swiftly executed, leading to the arrest of the duo, while efforts are ongoing to track down another suspect who remains at large.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, preliminary findings revealed that the suspects assaulted their victims and forced them into an uncompleted building used as a hideout.
“They threatened to kill the victims and robbed them of valuables including an iPhone 13, Samsung A2S, and other personal effects,” she said.
The police further confirmed the recovery of a locally made pistol and one of the stolen phones from the suspects. During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to the crime.
Investigations at the State Criminal Investigation Department also linked the suspects to the notorious Eiye Confraternity, a cult group associated with armed robbery and killings in Ilorin and surrounding communities.
“The principal suspect, Abdulazeez Isiaq, is a known criminal figure, and his arrest has significantly disrupted criminal activities within the area,” the statement added.
The Command assured residents that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
Residents have also been urged to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies with timely and credible information.
