KWASU Staff Receive Pay Deserving Of Their Status: Management

Stephen Olufemi Oni, Ilorin

The management of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has debunked an online report alleging that the staff of the institution are not receiving minimum wage from the Kwara State Government.

A statement by Professor Saeedat Aliyu, Director, University Relations, has, therefore, urged the public to disregard the malicious, false and unfounded publication, reiterating that staff salaries commensurate to what other other university staff in any federal university in Nigeria.

“The public is to note that all staff of Kwara State University, Malete, teaching, non-teaching, or technology staff are paid salaries commensurate to what other university staff receive in any federal university in Nigeria.

“The claim of the online outlet, which accused Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON of a supposed publicity stunt over the payment of N100,000 Minimum Wage is spurious and undeserving of any media house which is expected to do its due findings before making unfounded allegations.

“The personnel referred to in the publication are not staff of the university, but workers engaged on a part-time basis to oversee student hostels built by private individuals in and around the university. This category of workers are not Kwara State University staff and are not bound to the institution.

“Kwara State University, Malete wishes to state categorically that under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the institution has enjoyed immense government support that has been instrumental to the rapid growth of both academic and research output of the University.

“The public is therefore urged to disregard the said publication as it lacks merit,” the statement stated.
