The Zonal Security Adviser, Ankpa Federal Axis, yesterday participated in a security handshake meeting involving the Nigeria Police Force, the Kogi State Police Command, and the Benue State Police Command. The meeting was hosted by the Chairman of Ankpa Local Government Area as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration in protecting border communities and combating cross-border crimes.
The meeting brought together community leaders, traditional rulers, women leaders, youth groups, and other key stakeholders to discuss strategies for improving security and fostering peaceful coexistence along the Kogi–Benue border.
Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between security agencies and local communities through intelligence sharing, community policing, and joint efforts to address criminal activities such as kidnapping, armed robbery, and other cross-border offenses.
Speaking at the meeting, participants emphasized that sustainable security can only be achieved through a strong partnership between security agencies and the public. Community stakeholders pledged their support by encouraging residents to provide timely and credible information to security operatives.
The Zonal Security Adviser, Ankpa Federal Axis, commended the chief servant of kogi state His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed usman ododo for his support in supporting security agencies to combat crimes and the Chairman of Ankpa Local Government Area for organizing the meeting and described the initiative as a significant step toward strengthening inter-state security cooperation. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peace, security, and the protection of lives and property across the Kogi–Benue border communities.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by the Kogi and Benue State Police Commands, local authorities, and community stakeholders to sustain collaboration and intensify efforts to tackle cross-border crimes in the region.
