*BRIEF PROFILE OF DR ABDULLAHI SANNI OZOMATA*
At 38, Dr. Abdullahi Sanni Ozomata is an astute administrator cum project manager and politician who has distinguished himself in selfless humanitarian services.
Born to the family of Mall. and Hajiya (Mrs) Sanni Sadiq Ozomata (Sansad) in Ok
ene, Dr. Abdullahi hails from Okene LG of Kogi State. Dr Abdullahi obtained his Doctor of veterinary medicine from the prestigious Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto where he graduated among the top 10 percent of his class in 2008. He later proceeded to obtain Masters in Disaster Risk Management and Development Studies from the Federal University of Technology, Minna, as well as Masters in Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics, from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. Dr. Abdullahi is also an alumnus of Lagos Business school, where he obtained a certificate in Agribusiness Management.
As a seasoned Veterinary Epidemiology and Agropreneur with outstanding performance in international funded Agricultural projects and researches, Abdullahi Ozomata has over 10 years postgraduate experience in volunteering, management and leadership responsibilities across the nation and beyond. Little wonder that the administration of His Excellency Alh Yahaya Bello, recommended Dr. Abdullahi’s appointment, after performing excellently in the interview, as the State Project coordinator for Agro-Processing Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood support project (APPEALS-P), a Federal Government of Nigeria World Bank assisted project. Dr. Abdullahi, who became the youngest amongst his peers to be so appointed, deployed his wealth of experience and youthful energy to ensure that the agricultural productivity of small and medium scale farmers in the State are enhanced. Since his appointment, over 10,000 farmers, women and youths have benefitted tremendously from the APPEALS project in Kogi State.
Dr. Ozomata never fails to take advantage of opportunities to upgrade himself in all spheres of life. Despite his tight schedule and dedication to work, Dr Abdullahi is currently enrolled in on a PhD program in the department of Veterinary Tropical Diseases at the University of Pretoria, South Africa and has also attended various training programs, within and outside Nigeria.
At the community front, Dr Abdullahi is a community mobilizer par excellence, providing succor to thousands of people across the State. He was the face behind the much talked about One-on-one medical outreach in support of Governor Yahaya Bello’s second term electioneering campaign. The medical outreach whose objective was to guarantee that the futures of the beneficiaries are not compromised by treatable health conditions, supported over 2000 primary care patients and facilitated several successful life threatening surgeries across the three senatorial districts of the state.
Abdullahi Ozomata is a committed and loyal party member, a shrewd students leader, and a believer in the ability of the youth to lead Nigeria out of today’s conundrum. His active involvement in students unionism saw him joggle positions between various student associations such as NANS, SUG and his eventual ascension to become the national president of National Association Of Ebira Students (NAES) in 2005. Dr Ozomata was the House of Representatives candidate of the Congress For Progressive Change(CPC) in 2011;.the Kogi State vice-chair person of the Buhari Campaign Organization in 2015, as well as the coordinator, kogi Central for General Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organization. He was also a member of the Buhari Campaign Organization’s Contact and Mobilization committee.
He is happily married and blessed with children.
