The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has disclosed that it would deploy over 800 uniformed and plain-cloth personnel in the 16 local government areas of the state to secure lives and property during the forthcoming Sallah celebrations.

State Commandant Makinde Iskil Ayinla stated this on Thursday in a release signed by the spokesman of the NSCDC in the State, Babawale Zaid Afolabi.

“We are going to work together with other sister agencies towards ensuring adequate protection of lives and property of law abiding citizens across the state.

“Officers for this special operation will be drawn from operations, intelligence and investigations departments, armed squad and anti terrorism Unit, anti kidnapping unit, as well as officers from the divisional headquarters, among others,” Makinde disclosed.

He also said that officers would be deployed in the praying grounds, markets, recreational centres and other places which are operationally marked as vulnerable, adding that various heads of units, Area Commanders and Divisional Officers would also be on ground to monitor and supervise the situation.

“In line with our core mandate, officers will also be deployed in railway stations, oil pipelines, borders and other locations of critical infrastructure and national assets,” Makinde said.
