The member representing Lokoja I State Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Bin-Ebaiya Shehu Tijani (BEST) has appealed to his colleagues to make effective representation of their constituents as a watchword.
In his contribution on the floor of the house, the member had called for respect and recognition for the deceased Chairman of Lokoja Local Government, Hon Muhammed Dan’Asabe Muhammed and other important personalities in the state while the house was still on break.
On the issue of the controversy about principals of secondary schools demanding for payment of WAEC fees from students even after the fee had been paid by the Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, he urged the house to ensure due diligence to prevent parents from being ripped off by the schools.
He noted that some constituents had called his attention to the matter, and his suggestion culminated in the invitation of the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon Wemi Jones to clear the air on the matter.
Speaking against the backdrop, Hon BEST told journalist that his passion for politics evolved from his decision to impact society positively.
While praising his colleagues in the house 8th Assembly for their show of love, unity and commitment to the development of the society, he expressed optimism that the current crop of lawmakers would leave the state better than it is, by attracting development to their various constituencies.
The lawmaker appealed to the people of the state to continue to support members of the state Assembly to ensure they attract necessary dividends of democracy to communities across the state.
