The Senator representing Kogi Central, Senator Yakubu Oseni has sympathised with the victims of the fire incident which occurred in Abobo, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The unfortunate incident which happened at the early hours of 19th January was reported to have claimed some lives and property worth millions of naira destroyed.
Senator Oseni had earlier directed some of his constituency staff to immediately visit the area for an on-the-spot assessment on the damages caused by the inferno.
While calling for continued awareness on the safety precaution that should be adopted in strategic market places like Abobo cattle market, the lawmaker pledged to liaise with the necessary Federal Government agencies and Senate Committee on Emergency and Disaster Management to mitigate the immediate effect of the unfortunate incident.
Meanwhile, he urged drivers especially those with long trucks trailers to respect the sanctity of life by driving with utmost care on the expressway.
“Indiscriminate parking of long vehicles should be discontinued forthwith. Unnecessary vehicular congestion could open an area for preventable accident of unimaginable magnitude “, he said.
